Desirable postcodes attract interestDesirable postcodes attract interest
DESPITE the challenging property market, the North East is bucking the national trend in many areas and new housing developments are still being launched to meet demand.
Two new developments opening this weekend are in Durham and Alnwick.
In total, 98 properties will be released for sale at the two developments, Sheraton Park in Durham and Towergate in Alnwick, and selling agents Knight Frank are confident that both will sell well following good interest from local people.
Kevin Thubron, residential partner at Knight Frank, said: “Both Sheraton Park and Towergate are well-located sites in two of the region’s most desirable postcodes. The specification of the build for each development is of a very high standard and, most unusually, prices are affordable in Alnwick and targeted to local people who may be looking for that first step on to the property ladder or an apartment into which they can downsize.
“In Durham, we are creating something unique, with homes that people will aspire to live in.
“The interest we have already received in these two sites has been overwhelming positive.”
Crosby Lend Lease is the developer at Sheraton Park, where 47 one and two-bedroom apartments and two maisonettes are now for sale, priced from £170,000.
Located within the popular Neville’s Cross area of Durham City, the former college library site comprises the sympathetic conversion of two historic Edwardian buildings in addition to the development of new-build apartments. In total, 114 properties are being developed.
At Towergate in Alnwick, the developer is Sunderland-based Gentoo Ventures. Enjoying an elevated position close to the historic West Gate of Alnwick, the stylish development of 51 one and two-bedroom apartments offers exquisite views over Alnwick’s rooftops and towards the Castle. With a high specification, prices from just £124,950 with 5% deposit paid. For more details, tel: (0191) 221-2211.
