Homebuyers looking for a property in Cambridge may be able to obtain mortgage assistance from Laing Homes.

The shared purchase scheme is available at Laing's Eclipse development.

On selected two and three-bedroom apartments, as well as two, three and four-bedroom homes, buyers are able to take out a mortgage on 75 per cent of the purchase price.

The remaining 25 per cent is rent and interest-free and must be repaid within ten years.

Located less than two miles from the centre of Cambridge, Eclipse is part of a wider scheme that involves the creation of a local shopping area, primary school, sports pitches and tennis courts.

Local transport links, including a bus service to the city centre, have already been established.

Last month, rival housebuilder George Wimpey said new homes in Cambridge may actually cost less than older properties.

According to the homebuilder, a four-bedroom house in the city may be around £100,000 cheaper than a similarly-sized older home.
