2 and 3 bedroom barn conversion in the scenic Shropshire village of Cockshutt
Cockshutt village straddles the A528 Ellesmere to Shrewsbury Road, about 4 miles south of Ellesmere. The village has a Church, Junior School, Post Office, Pub, Shop, Garage, Millennium Hall, Playgroup, Play area, and Recreation Field. The links to their individual websites can be found on our “Cockshutt Friends” links at the side of the page.
The village has grown from a small agricultural region in the Crosemere area to a ribbon development along the Chester to Shrewsbury Stage coaching route in the late 1820’s. This form of transport led to the refurbishment of some farms and the building of Coaching Inns. At one time the village had 8 pubs dotted around for all the farm labourers working in the area. As farming methods change so has the village from a farming community to a dormitory one, as jobs on the farms disappeared and no other work replaced them, people commute all over Shropshire, Wrexham and further afield.
There is a great mixture of housing available in the village – private houses and bungalows, large and small, low cost housing owned by housing trusts both bungalows, small and larger family houses. There are many organisations meeting at the Millennium Hall and we have a Parish Council to represent us at North Shropshire District Council and a Football Team that is doing us all proud.
