ShoppingDunholme village shop and post office supplies a wide selection of groceries, newspapers and magazines, household products, wines and spirits, stationery, cards and gifts to cover most day-to-day needs. There is also a hairdresser in the village. There are more shops in Welton, including a Costcutter Supermarket, a Co-op and a butcher. For a wider range, the centre of Lincoln is a pleasant shopping area: the Cathedral Quarter has a wide choice of specialist shops and fashionable boutiques, while the national chain stores are mainly found in the High Street Quarter. The City also hosts a regular farmers’ market.
Sport and LeisureThere are sports facilities at Dunholme village hall, including tennis courts, a football pitch, indoor and outdoor bowling and a children’s play area, and the adjacent neighbouring village of Welton (the two villages are so close as to be virtually intertwined) is home to the Welton Manor Golf Centre, where the fine 18-hole course is complemented by a floodlit driving range and a fishing lake. EducationThere are excellent primary schools in both Dunholme and Welton. Dunholme St Chad’s is just a few minutes’ walk from the development, and Welton St Mary’s is just around a mile away. The local secondary school, the William Farr Comprehensive, is located on a 35-acre site on the northern edge of the village, less than 10 minutes’ walk away.
