The new development, called Fielding Meadow, consists of two and three bedroomed semi-detached and four bedroomed detached houses which are distinctly different in appearance and deliver high environmental performance.
Meeting Level 4 of the Code for Sustainable Homes, each dwelling boasts generous south facing windows which fill the rooms with light as well as taking full advantage of warmth from solar gain throughout the year. Air source heat pumps deliver hot water and heating to underfloor pipework on the ground floor and radiators to the first floor. Heat losses are reduced by highly insulated ground floors, 200mm wide filled wall cavities and a highly insulated, 'green' sedum roof.
The roof fin provides passive ventilation to reduce overheating in the summer and carries solar photovoltaic panels to generate electricity, surplus power being exported to the grid via the feed in tariff. High quality kitchen installations include energy efficient appliances.
"All this means a 50 percent reduction in CO2 emissions and substantially lower heating costs for owners," explains John Cawrey, the company's owner. "We've already received unprecedented interest in these houses, and we're looking forward to applying similar principles to new developments in the future."
New show home now open at Fielding Lane.
