Chesterfield and Mansfield both have museums, the latter recently being awarded the ‘Guardian Newspaper Family friendly award’ ahead of over 100 museums across the country. The Barrow Hill Engine Shed railway preservation site and Cresswell Crags world famous archeological centre are both nearby. Hardwick Hall is a 16th century house that survives today almost unchanged. Visitors can explore the property, its grounds and some of finest examples of embroideries and tapestries in Europe.
