Frome is the fourth largest town in Somerset and has a rich and colourful history dating back to Saxon times. An attractive town built on high ground above the River Frome. Formerly called Frome or Froome Selwood, after the neighbouring forest of Selwood; although the forest of Selwood no longer exists, the nearby countryside is still richly wooded and picturesque. There are over 500 listed buildings in Frome, more than any other town in Somerset.

TRANSPORT
The town is served by the A361 by-pass, which passes around the southern and eastern edges of the town, and gives access to the A36 and Bath some 13 miles away. And the M4 motorway is approximately 19 miles. Frome station is one of the oldest railway stations still in operation in Britain, with regular services to Bristol, Bath, London and the West Country. LEISURE
Frome has a thriving arts scene, with two theatres, art centre and cinema. There is an annual ten-day arts festival and the world famous Agricultural and Cheese Show.
