Tettenhall, originally a small village, is now a highly desirable residential area just to the north west of Wolverhampton. The area retains a wonderful rural village feeling, with a historic village church and a cricket pitch; the perfect place to enjoy a picnic and listen to the crack of willow on leather on a summer’s afternoon.
The area is dotted with stately villas, beautiful small cottages, and notable landmarks that include the clock tower, erected to commemorate the coronation of George V, and St Michael’s Church. There is a lido for summer dips and numerous boutique shops. The area is also famous for ‘The Tettenhall Dick’, a pear used in the making of Perry. Interestingly, Tettenhall is unique in England in having two village greens.
The name Tettenhall probably arose from the Saxon Teotta’s Halh, meaning ‘a sheltered place’ and now provides the inspiration for the name of this exciting new development.
Teotta Drive is within easy walking distance of a small parade of shops for everyday items and a Post Office. A wider selection of amenities is available on the High Street. More extensive shopping and a vast array of amenities and recreational facilities are available in nearby Wolverhampton.
There are several very good state and independent schools close to Teotta Drive to choose from including Tettenhall College, The King’s C.E. School, Christ Church Infants and Juniors, St Michael’s C of E School and Woodthorne Primary School.
Recreational facilities are numerous including no less than six golf clubs including South Staffordshire Golf Club and Wolverhampton Racecourse. There are delightful walks along the canal and patches of open woodland that make Tettenhall a truly enchanting place to live.
Teotta Drive is also perfect for road travel; with the M6, M6 Toll and M54 offering fast links into Birmingham. There are also bus links to Telford and Wolverhampton.
Rail travel is a breeze with Bilbrook, Codsall and Wolverhampton Railway stations each around three miles from your doorstep. From these stations, Birmingham New Street can be reached in around 25 minutes. Coventry and London Euston are also accessible in around 45 minutes and two hours respectively.
