LocationThe NW6 bar and restaurant scene has recently undergone transformation. Sophisticated cafés, bars and restaurants join the plethora of traditional pubs. Kilburn High Road plays host to a number of gastro-pubs - splendid examples of Victorian interiors juxtaposed with modern and exciting menus.
Two local favourites in West Hampstead are Walnut and Sarracino but you'll find everything here from gourmet burgers to upmarket European cuisine.
Foodies should head to the Queen's Park area to the Salusbury Pub and Dining Room – one of London's first and finest gastro-pubs. Penks offers French fine-dining whilst Hugo's specialises in organic home-cooking. Why not while away your Sunday evenings at their jazz events which attract leading performers and enthusiastic audiences!
Heading south is Maida Vale, characterised by mansion flats and the charming Little Venice. Here, a small collection of pubs, cafes and galleries cluster along a scenic stretch of the Grand Union Canal.
The Academy has excellent transport links with easy access by car to Marble Arch, the North Circular, Brent Cross, Edgware and the M1.
For those wishing to leave their car at home, there are frequent buses running along Kilburn High Road. There are also good Underground connections from both Kilburn and Kilburn Park stations on the Jubilee and Bakerloo Lines. Travelling overground from Kilburn High Road, Euston is just two stops away. The Silverlink line also connects Watford, Richmond and Stratford.
