The Local Area
Chichester: a city of contrasts
The impressive cathedral and historic buildings create a rich sense of history whilst the blend of designer boutiques, high street shops, smart cafés and restaurants create a vibrancy that’s very much ‘of the moment.’ Eight miles south, you’ll discover West Wittering’s award-winning beach, five miles north and you’re in the heart of the beautiful South Downs.
For families, Kingsham Primary School is just next-door and Chichester’s excellent secondary schools, college and university are within easy reach. Indeed, most of Chichester’s attractions are a mere walk away including Chichester Gate Leisure Park with cinema complex, bowling alley and a varietyof restaurants. Westgate Leisure Centre has a pool complex, squash court and health & fitness facilities and Oaklands Park is home to Chichester Lawn Tennis & Squash Club as well as The Festival Theatre. Priory Park, a few minutes’ walk from the Market Cross, hosts the annual Real Ale & Jazz Festival and provides a scenic backdrop to cricket and hockey matches. If you’re into water-sports head for Chichester Harbour but if you prefer golf, motor-racing or horse-racing, Goodwood has plenty to offer.
For a day out, visit Fishbourne Roman Palace, Singleton’s Weald & Downland Open Air Museum or West Dean Gardens – or head to Portsmouth’s historic dockyards or the designer outlets at Gunwharf Quay. With easy access to the A27 and M27 and Chichester’s railway station less than a mile away, travel isn’t a problem!
