LEISURE
For family days out, there are many places to visit in and around Maidstone. 4 miles south of Maidstone is Leeds Castle, a romantic looking castle which is thought to have been built in 1119 and was once the Royal palace for Edward I of England. Around the castle are attractions such as a maze and a grotto. Also set in the grounds of Leeds Castle is Go Ape, an action-packed day out featuring zip slides 65 feet above the forest floor and 250 metres in length. Leave the M20 at either junction 6 or 7.

From junction 6, pick up the A229 signposted to Hastings and follow the road for about 3 miles until you join Loose Road.

From junction 7, pick up the A249 for Maidstone and follow for about 2 miles. At the junction with the A229, turn left on to Upper Stone Street and follow onto Loose Road.

As you proceed along Loose Road, the road will fork around, bear right towards Hastings A229 continuing onto Loose Road, then take the second left.
