House builder confidence increasingThe confidence of home builders in the UK is increasing following a recent rise in residential planning approvals in the first quarter of 2012.
Brian Berry, chief executive at the Federation of Master Builders (FMB), said: "Our own survey suggested that the proportion anticipating an increase in overall workloads in the coming months did rise at the beginning of this year compared to the end of last year, so there is more confidence among our members."
However, he did note that the general trend of declining workloads witnessed since the start of the year looks set to continue, despite pockets of confidence appearing.
One house builder that is continuing to offer new homes in the UK is Taylor Wimpey.
The home builder is currently giving property-seekers reserving a home at its Stainton Mews development £1,000 each month for a year.
The development, located in Stainton on the outskirts of Middlesbrough, offers 22 three and four-bedroom homes in a range of styles.
