What is McCarthy & Stone Retirement Living?

The Security You Expect

Security is hugely important to the older home owner. That's why McCarthy & Stone pays such great attention to the security features designed into every new scheme we build.

Every flat provides the highest levels of security with a TV entry system plus 24-hour emergency Careline, in addition to sophisticated fire detection equipment and intruder alarms.

When a visitor calls at the main entrance, the security system will alert you of their presence. Then it's just a simple case of turning to a pre-set channel on your own TV set to see who's arrived. Simply greet them on the intercom, press a button and they can enter.

In addition, every main room has call points that put you in direct contact with the House Manager or, if she/he is out, the emergency Careline System provides 24 hour cover, 365 days a year by putting you in touch with a dedicated team of Careline operatives. Each flat also has its own smoke alarm and there are security contacts to all ground floor windows and to the entrance door of every flat.

Many of our new developments are now being built to the coveted 'Secured by Design' specification, which is recommended by the Police for a safe and secure environment.

Convenience

McCarthy & Stone has been building flats for the older homebuyer for over 25 years and the comments and feedback we have received throughout this period have proved invaluable in helping us to continually improve the levels of convenience for our customers.

For example, all plug sockets are positioned at waist height, taps use lever mechanisms making them easier to turn on and off, doorways are slightly larger than standard for ease of access and washing and drying machines, supplied for your convenience within the laundry room at most schemes, are easy to access with waist high door openings. You'll also be glad to hear that stairs become a thing of the past at McCarthy & Stone as each development incorporates a lift servicing all floors.

Not only are stairs a thing of the past, so is the worry and trouble of external maintenance chores and keeping up the garden. One service charge covers all external maintenance of the building, including all communal areas, in addition to providing for the maintenance and upkeep of the gardens. If your existing property is becoming a little too much to handle, this service could prove an invaluable benefit.

Most important of all, each McCarthy & Stone development is conveniently located to local shops and transport routes.

At Your Service

Each development also has the advantage of a House Manager. You'll find them helpful in lots of different ways, from keeping an eye on your flat when you're away to answering your day-to-day questions. When the House Manager is not on duty, the Careline system ensures that help is always at hand should it ever be required.
