Southern Housing Home Ownership (SHHO) develops brand new homes for intermediate rent and first time buyers. Shared Ownership is a part buy/part rent scheme for people who are unable to buy a home outright, on the private market. The amount you buy at first can be between 25% and 75%. Your mortgage covers that part of the property value and an affordable rent is payable on the remaining shares. We allocate SHHO homes to applicants who live, work or have family connections within that area. We also prioritise people who are on the Local Authority waiting list, Council and Housing Association tenants and Key Workers. Key workers include NHS staff, teachers, Police, British Transport police, employees in the prison, probation and fire & rescue services, and Local Authority staff. If you are a key worker and want to rent we offer Intermediate Rent . This is rent which is 80% or less than the ‘market’ rent charged for an equivalent property by a private landlord.
