Sixth form education is offered by The King David High School and the independent King of Kings School, both just over two miles away.
Within walking distance of The Avenues you have local newsagents, general stores, chemists, the Rosedale Shopping Centre and within a mile is a choice of leading supermarkets. Just a three mile trip into Manchester is the UK's largest inner-city shopping centre, Arndale with over two hundred and forty retailers, including major department stores, restaurants, cafes and a nineteen screen cinema complex. A half hour's drive round the M60 will take you to The Trafford Centre, a shopping centre and leisure complex with more than three hundred stores and Europe's largest food court. For superb factory shopping the Lowry Outlet at Salford Quays has more than two hundred and sixty designer brands at over eighty stores and a seven screen cinema.
The Avenues is in a convenient location just off the main A62 Oldham Road, which is a direct route between the city centre and junction 22 of the M60. Much of the region's motorway network can be reached via the M60, including the M62 for Leeds and Liverpool, the M56 to Cheshire and both link in to the M6. The city's Piccadilly railway station is only a 10 minute drive from The Avenues from where trains run to many major UK cities. Buses run regularly from Newton Heath to the city centre and it is proposed that a new Metrolink station will open at Newton Heath's former Dean Lane Railway station giving light rail services into the city in 2012. For air travellers Manchester's airport is about twenty miles away via the M60 and M56.
