Location
Set in the heart of the Chiltern Hills, Hazlemere is a delightful village surrounded by beautiful unspoilt countryside and ancient woodlands. Dating back as far as The Neolithic and Bronze Ages this enchanting Buckinghamshire hamlet was later well known for its farming and craftsmen in clay tile making. It was not until the first half of the 19th century that the real beginnings of the village were seen, with the construction of brick and flint cottages and Hazlemere’s first church.
Today, with a population of approximately 9,400, Hazlemere is large enough to support a thriving variety of shops, pubs and restaurants along with several local schools, places of worship and an 18 hole golf course, whilst still retaining much of its rural character.
Within easy reach of Hazlemere are a number of attractive villages, such as Penn, Tylers Green and Holmer Green, many of which offer a good choice of restaurants and pubs. Within a few minutes walk of the village centre are Common Wood and Penn Wood, the latter being an area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, home to a wealth of flora and fauna with an extensive network of paths available for walkers.
