The Meadows is an exclusive development of luxuriously appointed properties built to an unusually low density, with a high proportion of the development having landscaped open spaces. All the houses are of traditional brick, built to highly individual and attractive designs. Laurence Homes started building in Debenham in 2002 and plan to complete The Meadows during 2007. The remainder of our development comprises three, four and five bedroomed semi and detached houses.

The Meadows is built on the edge of Debenham and thus is surrounded by stunning open countryside. On the development itself Laurence Homes has carried out extensive planting to the large expanses of open spaces.

The Location
Nestling in the heart of Suffolk is the beautiful village of Debenham. Close to the source of the river Deben, the village name is thought to derive its name from the Anglo Saxon ‘deopan hamme’, which translates roughly as ‘village in a deep valley’. It seems that the village, possibly located on the major route through the East Anglian Kingdom, achieved some degree of prominence under the Anglo Saxons.

Many of the fine medieval buildings that survive in Debenham today owe their fortunes to the wool trade. This evidenced by the timber framed merchants houses dating from the 14th Century, also the market cross and village sign are indicative of Debenham’s wool trading status.

Located in what is often referred to as High Suffolk, Debenham is around ten miles north of Ipswich on the B1077. It is a short drive off the tourist trail along the A1120 if you are approaching from the east or west. With the A10 to the west and the A14 to the south, Debenham is pretty much bypassed by all but those that live in the village or its close neighbours. It is a place that must be sought out but, once found, offers much of interest.

Debenham offers excellent primary and secondary schools, community and health centres; a superb sports hall offering a flourishing sports, art and entertainment programme.
