Location

Located in the southern part of Slovenia, (the untouched green oasis in Europe and EU member), some 12 kms from the Croatian border is the town of Ilirska Bistrica, in which the property is to be found. The region, largely covered by forests is home of the karst (limestone) caves, the most famous being Postojna and Skoscjanskska Caves. Famous sights in the area include several castles: Sneznik Castle, one of the loveliest and best preserved castles in Slovenia and the Predjama Castle at one end of the famous Postojna Caves. Other attractions are the ‘intermittent” Lake Cerknica with its regional park where most of the country’s wildlife live.

Ilirska Bistrica offers an excellent starting point for mountaineering, trekking/cycling /horse riding/fishing and caving. Many beautiful nature walks and treks are to be found in the surrounding countryside including some smaller ski fields. The famous horse breeding town of Lipica is 30kms away and also has a golf course.

The beautiful Slovenian coastline are reached within one hour and just 30kms away is the attractive and highly popular Croatian coast , the port of Rijeka and the beautiful township of Opatija , the Adriatic islands and the Istrian Peninsula containing Roman ruins.


The northern Italian border is 45kms away, closest Italian city is Trieste- 50kms, having several international schools.
