Saxon Park
With its special waterside location, open green spaces and traffic-calmed streets, Saxon Park presents a superb opportunity to put down roots in a peaceful, convenient neighbourhood less than a mile from the centre of Warrington. Situated alongside the River Mersey and within easy reach of Manchester and Liverpool, it is also a convenient base for commuting throughout the North West.
Outdoor activities
With around 800 hectares of easily accessible public space in and around the town, Warrington offers endless opportunities to enjoy walking and cycling in delightful parks, gardens and nature reserves. Close to Saxon Park there is an access point into Sankey Valley Park, which follows the historic course of the Sankey Canal, with a verdant corridor of woodlands and water features, including play areas, a BMX track, a maze and facilities for angling. In addition to providing a network of foot and cycle-paths, the Park is part of the Trans Pennine Trail, with its more challenging long-distance routes.
Sport and leisure
There is a David Lloyd Leisure Centre in Great Sankey, around half a mile from Saxon Park, with indoor and outdoor heated swimming-pools, tennis-courts, a fully-equipped gym and a bar and restaurant. The Walton Hall Golf Course, less than two miles away, is acclaimed by many players as one of the finest municipal courses in the North West.
Entertainment
Warrington is a lively town with a fascinating range of recreational activities, including Pyramid Arts Centre, which, with its companion Parr Hall, brings a superb cultural focal point presenting a varied programme of dance, drama. music, comedy and exhibitions to the town. There is an Odeon cinema at the Westbrook Centre, around three-quarters of a mile from Saxon Park, an LA Bowl at Winwick Quay and a large Quasar laser adventure arena in the town centre.
Shopping
Warrington town centre has an excellent and varied range of shops, including one of the largest indoor markets in the North West with over 250 stalls, open every weekday. The town's Golden Square retail centre, which has over 140 units, including Marks & Spencer, BHS and Next, has recently been redesigned to double its size and incorporate a flagship Debenhams store.
Transport
Saxon Park is within easy reach of the M62, bringing Liverpool, Manchester and many other centres into commuting range. Warrington has excellent rail links, with four services per hour to both Liverpool and Manchester from Central Station, and services to London and Birmingham from Warrington Bank Quay Station. Liverpool and Manchester airports are in easy driving distance.
Education
There is a good selection of primary and secondary schools within around a mile of Saxon Park.
Health care
The Guardian Medical Centre, approximately a mile from the development, is staffed by six doctors and offers a full range of GP services as well as a selection of specialist clinics. There is a smaller practice a little further away in Bewsey Street, and a selection of dental surgeries within easy reach.
