Development Details
Mayfields is a superb development of 2,3 & 4 bedroom family homes
Welcome to Mayfields in Loxwood, West Sussex, a small pretty English village nestling amid sweeping undulating fields and woodland. The name Loxwood is thought to derive from a Saxon God called Lokka although Lox is also described as ‘a stream’ so the general consenus is that is a more likely derivation,
The present shops in Loxwood were once known as the Combination Stores run by a religious sect called The Dependent Brethren, nicknamed The Cokelars because they drank cocoa instead of alcohol. Sadly the last of these brethren has now died and the shops have long been taken over by private owners.
If you are in need of a little ‘retail therapy’ then look no further that nearby Guildford – a bustling market town that is one of the most affluent in Surrey. The Friary Shopping Centre is located within a two minute walk from the train station, adjacent to the bus station and has a bridge link to a 1,100 space car-park. It is a favourite family shopping destination with a wide range of fashion and food stores. Opposite you can find White Lion Walk Shopping Centre linking North Street with High Street a clean, airy and modern centre, small but with stores such as Next, Robert Dyas, Starbucks and a few interesting smaller stores.
Loxwood, a close and friendly community, boasts a selection of traditional shops i.e. Post Office stores and butcher together with a modern medical centre, sports centre and North Hall which provides a base for community services and functions. The Onslow Arms, a former toll house and coaching inn dating back to the 16th Century, is a very warm and welcoming place to relax with family and friends.
There are plenty of places to visit, one of which includes Fishers Farm Park, a unique place to visit giving both children and adults the opportunity to see animals well cared for in a happy environment together with lots of play areas it is ideally suited for toddlers to 9 year olds giving them plenty of scope to burn off all their energy.
Petworth House is one of the finest in the care of the National Trust and is home to an art collection that rivals many London galleries. Set in 700 acres and landscaped by Capability Brown it is the home of Lord and Lady Egremont. Petworth Park is open to the public all year and is well worth a visit. Spring and autumn are particularly breathtaking and summer sunsets over the lake are nothing short of spectacular.
