Location
Heckmondwike was once famous for its carpets and blankets produced during the past century; Victoria Mill was once the sight of the former Victoria Manufacturing Works that produced machinery and tools. Heckmondwike is in the West Riding of Yorkshire and conveniently placed with Leeds 9.5 miles to the North East, Bradford 9.5 miles to the North West, Huddersfield 9.5 miles to the South West and Wakefield 11 miles to the South East.

The Bagsham Museum is 2 miles away and has recently been renovated. The museum is a gothic Victorian house of a former mill owner and set in 36 acres of parkland and ancient woodland
Bolling Hall is a huge 500-year-old house that has been standing since before the time of Henry VIII. The hall is furnished to give an idea of what it may have looked like at different periods over the past 500 years
The cities of Leeds and Bradford are well worth a visit plus the vast and beautiful open countryside of the Peak District to the south and the Yorkshire Dales to the north provide great escapist day trips.
