Development Details
Midas Homes and Westco, a subsidiary of Devon and Cornwall Housing Association, are working together to create TR1.
TR1 is a stylish development of new apartments and houses set in the heart of Truro. What makes TR1 different from most new homes developments is that it combines old with new - mixing the exciting refurbishment of the former City Hospital with contemporary new build property in Truro.
Cornwall is famously the most temperate and sunny county in Britain, characterised by fresh air and open spaces surrounded by the sea.
On the north coast mighty Atlantic rollers pound up its glorious beaches making it the UK’s number-one surfing and extreme water-sports destination. The south coast is gentler, with broad estuaries and meandering rivers proving an irresistible attraction for the sailing fraternity from far and wide. The coastal footpath gives walkers 50 miles of non stop views across towering cliffs, tiny coves, pale beaches and startlingly turquoise waters where numerous surfers pit their wits against the curling waves. In recent years Cornwall has become very chic: Royalty discovered Rock, Rick Stein discovered Padstow, The Eden Project opened to world wide acclaim and now Jamie Oliver has chosen Watergate Bay for his latest foody venture.
Truro is the largest and most sophisticated commercial centre in Cornwall with all the bearing of a capital city. It lies equidistant between the north and south coasts with good road links connecting to surrounding areas.
In addition to the magnificent cathedral, Truro is said to have one of the finest surviving Georgian streets in England. The city has a compact, vibrant centre boasting the largest M&S for miles, designer boutiques and fashionable art galleries, weekly markets and peaceful parks and gardens. In Autumn there is an eclectic music festival with events, workshops and live music in the city’s numerous bars, restaurants and open spaces. Truro has a theatre and cinema, a leisure center with a large pool, sports halls and well equipped gym plus there are several independent health and fitness clubs nearby. The city is surrounded by agricultural countryside therefore plenty of fresh local produce comes to town; Truro’s own gourmet guide lists over 100 food and drink venues. The city has good primary and secondary schools, a high school for girls and a sixth form college, which was recently graded as one of the top in the country.
