Education
Local schools include The Hill Primary which was recently described as ‘outstanding’ by schools inspectors from Ofsted.  The new Dearne Advanced Learning Centre is a £26 million state of the art facility created by the Building Schools for the Future programme.  

Leisure
The land surrounding Thurnscoe is mainly rural with a local nature reserve.  Footpaths and reclaimed railway lines make the countryside very accessible for those who enjoy walking whilst the beautiful and impressive Peak District is within easy reach. Hickleton Golf Club is on the doorstep.  This 18 hole undulating parkland course, designed by the famous Ryder Cup players Neil Coles and Brian Hugget, has developed into one of the finest and most challenging courses in the region. Transport
