Site managers working for Barratt Homes in Northampton have scooped two awards in a national competition to find the best-run house building sites in Britain.
Two site managers employed by Barratt Homes have been named as recipients of the prestigious annual NHBC (National House Building Council) Pride in the Job Quality Award.
Chris Smith, 46, gained official recognition for the excellence of Barratt's Lyveden Fields development in Corby, which he runs, with a Pride in the Job Quality Award. Smith has worked for Barratt for three years and this is his well-deserved first Quality Award.
Roy Kelly, 52, was commended for high quality workmanship at the Stratford Park development in Milton Keynes. This adds to a string of Seal of Excellence Awards which he's managed to achieve throughout his career.
The two site managers were joined by site managers working for Barratt Group across the UK, which have scooped a record breaking 102 awards for quality workmanship. This is the highest number ever won by a single company since the competition began in 1980.
The Pride in the Job Quality Awards are the most coveted in the house building industry. They are awarded after the construction standard setting body NHBC (National House Building Council) carries out a series of spot check site inspections to select the best organised and best quality housing developments.
Both site managers will now go forward to the final round of the competition which will select the best house building site manager in Britain.
Almost 13,000 site managers throughout the UK were judged on every aspect of their job, including technical skill, quality workmanship, customer service and site safety.
Chris Carty, construction director at Barratt in Northampton said: "We are proud of the workmanship of all of our site managers and the official recognition of Chris and Roy confirms that Barratt Homes is building some of the best housing developments.
"The site manager plays a pivotal role in delivering high quality new homes and that is why we are so delighted with these national awards."
