  • Taylor Wimpey is sponsoring Jordan Gilbert, 15, as he works towards his goal.

Sara Taylor, sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey's south Wales division, said: "We have contributed towards many good causes over the years and sponsoring young, local, sporting talent like Jordan, who lives near our Castle Reach development in Caerphilly, is something the company really believes in.

"Rugby is at the heart of our nation and wherever possible we have championed both individuals and teams in the areas where we build. Jordan is a particularly promising young player and we hope by donating funds towards his personal costs as well as his tour, we will be supporting a Welsh rugby star of the future. "

Gilbert started playing rugby when he was six and has played for a host of reputable local teams. When playing for the Aber Valley Wolves, he was picked to play for East Wales where he played at The Gnoll, home of the South Wales Scorpions. Despite having just turned 14 at the time, Gilbert was picked for the Under 16's South Wales Scorpions Scholarship and next year he will be trialling for the Under 16's Welsh squad.

Gilbert explained: "I am very grateful for the sponsorship that Taylor Wimpey has given me. The majority of the funding will go towards my upcoming tour, which will strengthen my ability in the sport and give me a wealth of experience. I hope to continue progressing in Rugby League to become a professional player and my ultimate goal is to be on the Welsh team."

Taylor Wimpey's Castle Reach development is situated on Pontygwindy Road, close to the ground where Gilbert trains and is just a mile from Caerphilly's town centre. Once complete, Castle Reach will comprise of 37 one, two, three and four bedroom homes.
