  • Crest Nicholson has highlighted the advantages of its energy efficient Avante plot in Coxheath, Kent.

The development's features include lighting and glazing as well as a central lantern roof light designed to allow in solar light and provide natural ventilation.

The developer pointed out that these elements made the Avante homes twice as energy efficient as the average second hand house. It has netted them ratings of 'Very Good' or 'Excellent' by the EcoHomes independent monitoring system.

"[These homes] have been specifically designed to help reduce the use of energy and this gives purchasers the peace of mind that they are helping to reduce their CO2 emissions and … save money," said sales and marketing director Annette Cole.

As part of an attempt to slash CO2 emissions, the Scottish branch of the Energy Saving Trust has recently announced they will be giving out interest-free loans of £10,000 to help people minimise their carbon footprint when it comes to their living situation.
