  • First time buyers who fear that the property ladder may be out of their reach should pay a visit to Peninsula, Taylor Wimpey’s development in Dovercourt, Essex.

The house builder is offering one lucky first time buyer the chance to buy a three bedroom Fenton house under the Easy Start shared equity scheme. It is proving a big hit with those in search of new homes for sale in Essex.

The initiative lets the qualifying purchaser own the Dovercourt property for just 85 per cent of its full purchase price - £127,495 - with only a 5 per cent deposit required, subject to status.

Taylor Wimpey provides up to 15 per cent equity in the form of an interest-free loan repayable in up to three instalments over a 10 year period, at the market value of the property.

Stacy Dornan, regional sales and marketing director for Taylor Wimpey, said: "With many mortgage lenders demanding large deposits from first time buyers, which can be as high as 20 per cent, owning that first home may seem like a dream for many.

"Thanks to Easy Start, one lucky first time buyer will need just a 5 per cent deposit - that's just £7,500 - to make the Fenton at Plot 59 their very own."

The Fenton at Plot 59 has a kitchen/dining room and a large lounge, each opening through French doors to the private garden, plus a handy guest cloakroom off the entrance hallway.

Upstairs is a master bedroom with ensuite, along with two further bedrooms and a main bathroom, while a garage and allocated parking can be found outside.

Alternative three bedroom houses at Peninsula include the Hexton, priced from just £145,995, and the Weston, from as little as £152,995. The four bedroom Salisbury townhouse, meanwhile, is priced from only £169,995.

Peninsula offers homebuyers an enviable lifestyle close to Blue Flag beaches, a wealth of restaurants, bars and cafes, a weekly market and monthly farmers' market plus a great choice of shops.

In addition to windsurfing and a wide range of watersports, Dovercourt Leisure Centre in Low Road offers a swimming pool and solarium, fitness suite and floodlit pitch, while facilities for football, rugby, cricket and tennis are also local.

For those who enjoy walking, trails provide the chance to explore the nearby woodlands and meadows, while the country lanes and shoreline also make for perfect cycling, and the National Cycle Network runs from Harwich to Manningtree.

Dovercourt Railway Station is only half a mile from home, with regular services to Colchester in 30 minutes, Chelmsford in 60 minutes, and London Liverpool Street in 90 minutes. Road links are also excellent, with the A120 to Colchester close by, and Stansted Airport only 50 miles away.
