"We visited the development when it first opened and it was very busy," says Natalie. "Having grown up in Wem, I know how rare it is to find a new development of family sized homes in the area, and so I'm not surprised by the interest Willmott Meadow has received from the moment it opened."
Natalie adds: "With family in the town and jobs nearby, we really wanted to stay in Wem if possible. Having looked at second hand properties in the area, we found the biggest issue was the size of deposit we'd need - in the region of 20 per cent, which is a considerable amount of money. Plus, we were put off by the fact you never know what's around the corner with an older house, maintenance-wise.
"With a new build, we know we won't have any hidden issues to deal with, and the fact that Taylor Wimpey's Part Exchange scheme meant we could swap our old home for a new one took away all the hassle of trying to sell it ourselves. I know a few other people have had their homes on the market for quite a while, so Part Exchange seemed the perfect opportunity for us to get the home we really wanted."
Three months since their move, Natalie and David are incredibly appreciative of Willmott Meadow's favourable location on the northern fringes of Wem.
"It's so quiet here - we love it," says Natalie. "We're right on the edge of the countryside, which is lovely, and you don't hear any passing traffic, which is a big change for us as our old place was on a main road in town. At the same time, we're just a 10 minute walk from the centre of Wem, so we have the best of both worlds."
As a teacher in Market Drayton - and living in the catchment area of the two schools where she was a pupil - Natalie is well placed to comment on why Willmott Meadow is perfect for families with children of school age.
She says: "St Peter's primary and Thomas Adams secondary school have always had a good reputation and are both rated 'Outstanding' by Ofsted. They are within walking distance of the development, which makes Willmott Meadow ideal for the school run."
Stunning four bedroom detached houses are currently on sale at the development from as little as £224,995, while the five bedroom 'Lichfield' is priced from £309,995.
All homes at the development are completed to a high standard specification, including energy efficient central heating, double glazing and a fitted kitchen with an oven, hob and hood.
Under the Part Exchange scheme, customers like Natalie and David receive an agreed price for their old home from Taylor Wimpey, based on the average of independent professional valuations. They are then free to relax in their current place until their new home at Willmott Meadow is ready to move into.
The Government's new Help to Buy shared equity scheme is also available, enabling first time buyers and those looking to move home to purchase their new property for 80 per cent of its full price, including a 5 per cent deposit.
The scheme involves a Government loan of up to 20 per cent and is available on new build properties up to the value of £600,000. There is no salary cap for purchasers using the scheme.
The NewBuy initiative, meanwhile, gives credit-worthy purchasers in a variety of circumstances the chance to access their ideal home at the development with a 95 per cent mortgage.
