A new retail park in Colchester, Essex, will form the centrepiece of a regeneration that will include new homes.
People in Colchester on the lookout for a new property could be interested to know about the development of a new retail park in the town.
The centre, in Stanway, is expected to become more pedestrian-friendly, the Daily Gazette has reported.
Shops currently located in the Tollgate mall will also be refurbished to make them more attractive to shoppers.
According to the Daily Gazette, the retail park will form the centrepiece of wider development plans.
Some 1,800 homes are proposed to be built by 2026.
Quatro, the independent company which conducted the consultation, told the paper: "There is clearly strong support from Stanway residents for the upgrade proposals for Tollgate Retail Park."
Respondents to the consultation also called for more variety in retailers, urging planners to contact mainstream shops such as Marks and Spencer, Mothercare and HobbyCraft.
It is also expected that a coffee chain would take one of the units on the site.
