Barratt Homes has appointed Ian Ruthven as managing director for its division in Yorkshire.
Ian Ruthven joined Barratt's Yorkshire West arm as sales director in May 2005. Since then, he has made a significant contribution to the performance of the business, including successfully managing the integration of the three former sales teams into the Leeds-based operation.
Ruthven is set to replace outgoing managing director Chris Burton, as he moves onto his new position as regional managing director for the company's west region.
Ruthven's appointment will allow the division to build upon and continue the successes of Burton and he will become involved with his new role over the next four months to ensure there is a seamless transition within the company.
Internally, Barratt Yorkshire West continues to flourish with a 180 strong team with 60 of those operating from its base in Leeds. It is here where decades of expertise in the housebuilding sector meet the fresh minds of graduates and apprentices to create the perfect outlook on creating new communities in the region.
Barratt Yorkshire West's approach to sourcing just the right land opportunities geared towards meeting the exact needs of buyers in the locality has ensured the business' continued success. 2012 looks set to be another landmark year with nine new sites being prepared for launch, providing more than 1000 much-needed new homes across the region and creating over 1998 jobs.
Ruthven said: "It is a privilege to help lead an organisation which plays such an important part in helping people onto the property ladder and providing for those in desperate need of housing. I will endeavour to match the great successes brought to the business by Chris and look forward to playing a key role in shaping the development of new homes in the region."
Burton added: "I am delighted that Ian has been named as my successor. Not only does he have deep knowledge and understanding of the housebuilding industry, he has played a crucial role in building the Yorkshire West division to its current position of Yorkshire's best housebuilder.
"Thanks to people like Ian we are celebrating our third year as a HBF five star housebuilder and I am sure that we can keep this up for many years to come. I wish him and the team every success."
