Taylor Wimpey has been granted planning permission for its updated scheme to build a collection of new homes in Tewin, Hertfordshire.

  • Carrington Grange will comprise 17 private four, five and six bedroom detached houses for sale in Tewin, plus 11 further homes for housing association rental and shared ownership in a secluded location located off Upper Green Road.

    Taylor Wimpey's application, which includes the demolition of the existing Sevenacres house on the site, was approved by East Herts District Council at a meeting on July 18. The housebuilder previously had planning permission for 18 properties in Tewin, Hertfordshire, in the grounds of the house.

    The decision paves the way for a £6,000 contribution from Taylor Wimpey Hertfordshire to Tewin Parish Council for community improvements in the village.

    Further Section 106 contributions totalling more than £120,000 are also earmarked towards sustainable transport, youth provision, libraries and education.

    Taylor Wimpey's community contribution will be made following the first legal completion of a private house purchase at Carrington Grange.

    Tewin Parish Council will determine how the money will be spent and has a number of projects under consideration including improvements to the village shop and a new stretch of pavement in the village.

    Work has already started on the site in regard to the properties previously given the green light by planners and it is expected the first new homes will go on sale in September.

    The new homes at Carrington Grange are bordered by peaceful open countryside, with the idyllic village green right on the doorstep.

    Tewin also boasts a host of everyday amenities including two pubs, a shop, a primary school and a wealth of traditional village societies and activities including a cricket and a tennis club.

    Families will appreciate that Tewin Cowper C of E Primary School is within walking distance of the new homes and was rated by Ofsted as good with outstanding features at its most recent inspection. A choice of secondary schools is available in Welwyn Garden City, just three miles away.

    Welwyn Garden City was founded in 1920 and is laid out along tree-lined boulevards with a neo-Georgian town centre. The town boasts a large John Lewis and the Howard Centre indoor shopping mall as well as a variety of restaurants, entertainment and leisure facilities.
