  • A site manager from Hampshire has clinched a prestigious regional house building award for his work at a Taylor Wimpey development in Gosport.

Melvin Elford, site manager at the house builder's Alver Village development, fended off stiff competition from around the south east of England to be honoured with an Local Authority Building Control Warranty (LABC) 'Site Manager of the Year' award.

Elford's award recognises his dedication to building high quality homes and for his commitment to maintaining the highest standards across every aspect of site operations.

The award is for the south east region of the LABC, and Elford will now go up against 13 other regional winners for the coveted title of UK Site Manager of the Year. The overall winner will be announced at the LABC Building Excellence Awards in London in November.

Elford said: "It's fantastic that the work we do at Alver Village has been recognised with this award, particularly as we've come up against some pretty tough competition from other sites in the south east region.

"We're committed to building high quality homes while providing the best service to our customers, and the whole team works extremely hard to maintain the highest possible standards day in, day out."

David Brown, Taylor Wimpey managing director in the southern counties, adds: "On behalf of everyone at Taylor Wimpey in the southern counties, I'd like to congratulate Melvin and his team for this fantastic achievement, which reflects Taylor Wimpey's commitment to delivering the very best in quality and service across each and every one of our sites.

"Melvin's award is thoroughly deserved and we all wish him the best of luck as he progresses to the national final of the LABC Warranty Awards later in the year."

Alver Village is an integral part of the exciting Rowner Renewal Scheme in Gosport, providing a wide variety of attractive new homes for everyone from first time buyers and downsizers to growing families.

Following the sellout success of the first two phases of the development, the first plots in phase three are now available to reserve. They include three bedroom houses from £190,000 and four bedroom properties from £205,000.
