When wound care podiatrist Joanna Woollard was told her rented flat was being sold, she immediately started looking for another in Stratford.
However, when Joanna Woollard's dad told her she could save £450 a month by buying a shared ownership property at Stratford Halo by Genesis, she simply couldn't refuse.
Woollard, 25, explains: "I had rented an apartment in Stratford for three years, having studied at East London University and when I was told it was being sold, I wanted to remain in the area. I have lots of friends and family in Stratford and simply wouldn't live anywhere else. I wasn't looking to buy as I didn't think I would be able to afford it, but when my dad pointed out that it would be around £450 per month cheaper to purchase a shared ownership apartment at Stratford Halo rather than renting a similar sized property in the area, it was an easy decision."
Woollard continues: "When I first visited the development, I couldn't believe that it ticked every box on my wish list. As I was buying on my own, I had very specific requirements such as good security features, dishwasher and tumble dryer and a short distance from the train and underground station. Having realised that everything was more than catered for, I went ahead and bought a 25 per cent share of the property. I now pay around £750 per month, which includes my mortgage and rental payments."
Woollard adds: "I moved into my new home in October 2012 and simply love living here. I feel safe and secure thanks to the 24 hour security and concierge, and the staff cannot do enough to help. They lent me a sofa when I first moved in, look after my post and any deliveries if I'm out and fix any problems straight away. It's fantastic."
Woollard concludes: "The development is also only a short walk from the station and it only takes me 30 minutes to travel to Royal Free London Hospital in Hampstead Heath where I work as a wound care Ppodiatrist. I also have the ability to use the car club operated here, which is ideal as I sold my car shortly after moving in."
