Two new staff members - at very different stages of their careers - have joined the team as the business expands and new developments are opened.
David Stutting joins Taylor Wimpey as a land manager, bringing with him more than 15 years' worth of invaluable experience gained with major house builders developing collections of new homes in Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire, Northamptonshire, Derbyshire, Leicestershire and Peterborough.
Stutting, from Long Bennington, near Newark-on-Trent, says: "I have been in the industry since 1997 and after completing my degree in residential development, I commenced in the new homes building industry and worked my way up to my current senior land management role.
"I joined Taylor Wimpey in the East Midlands at a really exciting time and my new position is providing me with plenty of new challenges in bringing land through the various acquisitions and planning stages so that we can develop in the right locations to provide new homes and communities for all of our customers.
"It is clear that Taylor Wimpey East Midlands is an expanding, leading local builder which enjoys national support. I have been really impressed with the company, particularly the land and planning department, which has a really positive structure, helping us to create real communities through the cycle of our development programmes."
At the same time, 22 year old Rob Wiggans is a young man working in Taylor Wimpey's Graduate Management Trainee Scheme who will spend the next six months gaining experience in the land, technical, financial, commercial and legal departments.
"Everybody in the land team has taken me under their wing", says Wiggans, who is originally from Lancashire and now lives in Leicester. "The team I am working with have been in the industry for years and this is giving me the chance to learn from their vast experience.
"Every day is different and I am being given real opportunities of responsibility - I am able to assess sites, meet with landowners, carry our market research, attend planning meetings. I am really enjoying my new role.
"Over the coming months I will be given a taste of life of several other departments at Taylor Wimpey East Midlands and it is exciting to have this opportunity and gain insight into how this successful local company operates. At the end of my first year with Taylor Wimpey, as part of my climbing frame of learning, I will be given the chance to spend 12 months working solely in the area of the business that I would like to specialise in.
"Working at Taylor Wimpey is exceeding all my expectations - I am discovering so much about the industry and it is fantastic to be playing my part in a dedicated local team and building the new homes and communities that ultimately satisfy our customer's requirements."
The two new recruits are currently working side by side in the land fepartment, with Stutting and the rest of the local team sharing their experience and know how with Wiggans.
