The house builder has secured consent for its Greenlaw Mills development in Penicuik.
Greenlaw Mills development at Mauricewood Road in Penicuik will offer two, three, four and five bedroom family homes, four bedroom townhouses, as well as two bedroom apartments. A percentage of the 458 homes on this development have been allocated for social housing and the final number will be confirmed with the local authority.
The features at Greenlaw Mills will include a linear park with footpath links to the wider landscape. Plus there will be a provision for a children's play area, pavilion and an informal kick-about area.
Tree-lined avenues will create a real sense of balance, helping Taylor Wimpey to deliver a development that will appeal to a wide range of customers within the town of Penicuik.
There is also scope to provide a mixed-use development that could provide a crèche, convenience store and other necessary local amenities. This is subject to a separate planning application yet to be submitted.
Derek Wilson, technical director for Taylor Wimpey in east Scotland adds: "Taylor Wimpey is delighted to confirm planning permission has been granted for Greenlaw Mills reflecting our comprehensive community engagement approach to positively work within local communities.
"Greenlaw Mills is an excellent development that will deliver an impressive choice of new family homes in Penicuik, whilst also offering benefits to the wider Midlothian area.
"It is hoped that work will begin on site very soon, and we anticipate our range of new homes will go on sale later in the year."
