Author Steve, 69, and his wife Sue, 66, started looking at new homes in Kent to be nearer daughter Jo and young grandchildren Zachary and Thea after their son-in-law Daniel passed away with cancer two years ago, aged just 39.

"We'd been looking for quite some time for the right property in Kent, and had been focusing on the second hand market, but when we found out about Kings Quarter, we discovered the homes there offered good value - they were perfect for us."
Steve and Sue opted for a three bedroom 'Duchess' home at the Taylor Wimpey Kent development, moved in during December and haven't looked back since.
"Since settling in we've found the house has bettered our expectations of what it would be like to live in," says Steve.
"It's a great design, with clever use of space and plenty of storage. It's lighter, more airy and more spacious than we thought it would be - in fact, it's a bit like stepping inside the Tardis, thanks to the amount of space there is behind the front door."
Kings Quarter's convenient location also gets the seal of approval from Steve, an author of science books for Oxford University Press.
He says: "We've always liked Chislehurst. You really feel you are living in a village in the middle of Kent, thanks to the abundance of ancient woodland in the area, yet you're within the M25 and 20 odd minutes away from central London on the train.
"We're only a 10 minute walk from Elmstead Woods station, which is where Jo takes a train to get to her work near St Paul's, via Cannon Street. It takes her 40 minutes door to door, which is excellent. In fact, it took us longer to get from our house in Bristol to the city centre than it does from our new home into London."
