The town also boasts a wealth of leisure facilities including the Dolphin Centre, Bannatyne Health Club, a library and Darlington Civic Theatre. There are also lots of public open spaces around the town, including the award-winning South Park.
The town has a good mix of schooling for all ages, including some Ofsted ‘outstanding' schools such as St Augustine's R.C Primary School. Darlington College is the newly built FE College and Teesside University opened a Darlington campus in 2011. The town also has two independent schools – Polam Hall School and Yarm at Raventhorpe.
